Williams and Feigenholtz to Host YMCA Women’s Health and Resource Fair
CHICAGO – State Reps. Ann Williams (D-Chicago) and Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) will collaborate with the Lake View YMCA to host a women’s health and resources fair on Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lake View YMCA, located at 3333 North Marshfield.
“The women’s health fair is a great opportunity to provide resources and promote a variety of health and safety options available to women in our community, while also highlighting local women-owned businesses. I am excited to be hosting this fun and informational event with Rep. Feigenholtz,” said Williams.
At this free event, guests can enjoy free mini-massage and acupuncture, self-defense demonstrations, and blood pressure, posture, foot, and spinal screenings. The YMCA is providing guest day passes for non-members and allowing attendees to participate in the YMCA’s group fitness classes offered during the fair, including mat pilates at 10:30 a.m., TurboKick at 11:30 a.m., and zumba at 12:30 p.m. Class descriptions can be found at www.lakeviewymca.org. A family-friendly event, the Junior League of Chicago is providing kid-friendly activities.
To give back to the community, Williams, Feigenholtz, and the YMCA will collect new and gently used bras for Support 1000. The not-for-profit organization donates the bras to women’s organizations and social service providers across the world, including several women’s shelters based in and around the Lakeview area.
“State Representatives Williams and Feigenholtz share in the Y’s mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility,” said Katy Leclair, Executive Director of the Lake View YMCA. “We are really pleased to have their help, and the support of health focused businesses in the area to bring the community a women-centered family event to showcase local resources and raise awareness of healthy lifestyle habits.”
