Growing Mushrooms?

Curious but baffled by the thought of growing mushrooms? Learn the stages of growth and methods of cultivation. Mushroom cultivation is fascinating and becoming a growing trend. Fungi are becoming more respected as a food source and natural medicine. Certain varieties can be grown in gardens and compost piles or even on coffee grounds or indoors in apartments.

Class cost: $15 in advance $20 at the door If cost is a discouragement, please email me for an alternative arrangement.

There will be a presentation, resource sharing and a brief demonstration followed by conversation. Bring something to take notes with as well as all your questions.

Bring a Plant — Take a Plant — and leave happy! Exchange as many plants as you want. Please try to note the name of the plant and whether it does best in sun or shade. Trade extra seedlings too.

Clean out your garage! Bring tools, garden accessories, or whatever else you think someone would benefit from.

Cemetery Walking Tours

Rosehill Cemetery & Mausoleum, 5800 N. Ravenswood Avenue, will again be offering their bimonthly walking tours of the historic cemetery on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. This free tour highlights Rosehill’s history, sculptures, and stories from the lives of famous Chicago pioneers and politicians buried there, including Civil War generals and Chicago Mayors, Banker Norman W. Harris, Hot Dog King Oscar Mayer, Montgomery Ward, Richard Sears, and suffragette Frances Willard. Tours meet at the Rosehill’s Ravenswood gates at 10 a.m. For more information, call (773)561-5940.
