Gordon Tech Falls to St. Ignatius in Season Finale

October 20, 2012
By Jack Lydon

Wolf Pack 48, Rams 14

St. Ignatius (3-6, 3-1) spoiled Gordon Tech’s senior day dropping the Rams (3-6), 1-3) 48 to 14 Saturday afternoon at Luther North.  The Rams fell behind early after a Wolf Pack interception return for a touchdown and a long double reverse touchdown run.  Another pick six and a long run followed by a running TD and the Wolf Pack lead 27 to 6 at that half.

Up 42 to 6, St. Ignatius head coach and Gordon Tech alumnus, Pat Jennings, called a fake punt deep in Rams territory in order to go up by 40 points and have a running clock.  It should be a fun game next year.

The Rams finish the season with three wins and six losses winning only one game in the Catholic League.  But GT’s prospects for the future look bright.  The Rams had only six seniors on the team.  A talent group of juniors and sophomores learned about playing football in the best football conference in the state of Illinois.

Despite having the same overall record as the Rams, 3-6, St. Ignatius earned a share of the Catholic League White Division championship by virtue of their victory over Hales Franciscan two weeks ago.
