Gordon Tech Upsets St. Ignatius

Gordon Tech's Jerry Davis Shoots Down Wolfpack

The Gordon Tech Rams closed the regular season with a huge 36 to 30 upset victory over St. Ignatius, (15-10, 7-4), Friday evening at St. Ignatius. The Rams jumped out to an early lead and held on to win, spoiling St. Ignatius’ senior night.

Earlier reports here and the Sun-Times report that the final score was 32-30 are wrong.  The Bulldog has confirmed with Gordon Tech scorekeeper John “Maz” Maciasziewicz and Athletic Trainer Leah Litin that the final score was Gordon Tech 36 and St. Ignatius 30.

GT head basketball coach Tom Kleinschmidt and his talented group of assistant coaches have the Gordon program headed in the right direction. The Rams finished the regular season with sixteen wins and nine losses including four wins and seven losses in the Catholic League.  This was GT’s second big Catholic League upset of the 2012-2013 season. Earlier this season the Rams crushed St. Joseph 65 to 35 at GT’s Tom Winieki Gym.

The Rams have an eleven day wait for the IHSA 3A playoffs to begin.   On Tuesday, February 26th, GT will face the winner of the Senn v. Elmwood Park game of the Senn High School Regional.

The Gordon Tech sophomore team also defeated St. Ignatius Friday night bringing the sophomore team’s Catholic League record to a much improved 7 wins against 4 losses.
