Seton Academy defeats Gordon 41-27

January 17, 2011
By Jason_Paul_Davis

A low field goal percentage and a tough full court press from Seton Academy was all Gordon Tech (6-12) could take, as the Lady Sting made their free throws down the stretch to seal a 41-27 victory Friday.

Two days after beating Catholic League foe Maria, Gordon Tech had a difficult time putting consecutive baskets together versus the Lady Sting of Seton Academy.

Sophomore center Melanie Claudio tried to keep it close for Gordon Tech as she scored eight points in the paint. Junior guard Samantha Martinez, back from injury, scored 5 points for the Rams.

The Rams only scored four points in the third quarter and found themselves behind by 10 in the middle of fourth quarter, so, they had some work to do. Ariana Jackson (12 points) paved the way for the Lady Sting and hit her free throws down the stretch to help give her team the win.

Seton Academy’s star, Deanna Wellere was held to 9 points on the evening.

Gordon Tech is on the road for their next four contests. They play De La Salle next. Game time is 6:30P Tuesday, January 18.
