- Hot dog eating contest at Northside Summerfest
The hot dog eating contest, the Blue Angels, hot dog vendors and numerous bands combined to entertain the large crowd at Sunday’s closing day of the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce’s Northside Summerfest.
Amateur eater, Frank Wach (not pictured), of Edison Park, won the hot dog eating contest by choking back seventeen hot dogs in six minutes. The amazing, and at times revolting, competition carried a $250 prize.
The crowds also enjoyed occasional flyovers by the Navy’s Blue Angels. Curiously, many neighborhood dogs with masters in tow turned out for the festival which featured hots dogs as its signature cuisine. 80′s cover band, 16 Candles, rocked the North stage to the delight of hundreds of dancing patrons.
