A national conference has selected Ravenswood School as one of three local schools to tour during its meeting next week. The conference will mark national recognition of a local teacher’s innovative work.

The Arts School Network, says its mission is to be a resource for arts schools by providing best practices, resources for college and career planning, leadership and support of arts schools leaders. The group was founded in 1981. Membership is open to schools and individuals. It says it has more than 300 members.
Ravenswood was recognized for its “innovative, integrated arts education program,” the school said in a news release. Conference members will experience the “innovative programming and culture that make Ravenswood unique,” the school said in its release.
Ravenswood parents, teachers and administrators place a high priority on weaving arts classes into school programming, the school said.
Catherine (Kitty) Conde, a Ravenswood School Art teacher with 20 years experience, will lead the tour.
“Kitty played a prominent role in developing the respected ‘Every Art, Every Child’ arts integration curriculum for elementary school teachers,” the school said.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors and share our best practices with the broader arts community,” Conde said.
Ravenswood School has 471 Chicago Public School Students. The campus is cited on the oldest school in the Ravenswood area, the Sulzer School. The conference visit is scheduled for Wed., Oct. 17.
