Chicago Public Schools are open today, a Columbus Day, many other government services, including the post office, are closed.
In the past, CPS students received Columbus Day off. Next year CPS students will again enjoy a holiday on Columbus Day. However the holiday this year was cancelled prior to the strike and is not part of the days to be made up by CPS students due to the seven days of lost school.
