Illinois Senate President John Cullerton told the Illinois Radio Network the Statehouse will be considering legislation to reform Workers Comp laws in Illinois.
“I believe that workers’ comp overhaul is the single most important piece of legislation that we can pass this session to prove we’re serious about improving the business climate,” Cullerton says.
As previously noted in The Bulldog, state claims for workers comp are significantly higher than nearby states. In addition, a newspaper report found guards at the Menard Correctional Center in Chester, IL received more than $10 million in claims benefits. The Menard report has sparked calls for an examination of the state workers comp system.
