Over the objections of state business groups, an Illinois House Committee has approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana by a vote of 6-5. The bill moves on to the Illinois House for consideration.
Known as HB 30, the bill was challenged by businesses, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. The businesses worried about being able to enforce a drug free workplace.
Commiittee chair Greg Harris noted that businesses should be just as concerned about monitoring prescription prescription abuse.
